The AEMC 6681 system is a portable underground cable and fuse locator designed to identify open circuits, shorts, track cables, and locate fuses or circuit breakers. It includes a transmitter, receiver, and accessories, both equipped with large backlit LCD screens and large keys for ease of use. The transmitter applies a modulated AC signal to the circuit, creating a proportional electric field for detection. It also functions as an AC/DC voltmeter with a voltage warning symbol and features a self-test function to confirm proper transmission. Both units have flashlight features for working in low-light conditions. The sensitive receiver detects electric fields emitted by underground lines and pipes, displaying signals that help locate cables, faults, and constricted sections of non-metallic pipes. A buzzer provides auditory feedback with pitch variations based on signal strength. The system operates in single-pole and two-pole modes and can locate and trace underground cables, detect line breaks, faults in radiant floor heating, constricted non-metallic pipes, circuit breakers, fuses, and short circuits. It is compliant with electrical safety standards EN 61010-1 and electromagnetic compatibility EN 61326-1. Typical applications include locating conductor breaks in walls or floors, fault detection in heating systems, pipe constrictions, metallic water pipes, heating radiators, underground circuit tracing, and conductor pair routing.
