The AEMC 8436 is a versatile power quality and energy analyzer designed for comprehensive electrical measurements. It offers TRMS voltage measurement up to 1000 V AC/DC for various wiring systems, and TRMS current measurement up to 10,000 Arms depending on the sensor. The device features a 65 microsecond sampling rate, enabling accurate transient detection on all voltage and current inputs, including up to 210 transients. It directly measures neutral current and voltage, records trend data for up to one month at a one-second interval for up to 25 variables, and measures inrush current.
Additional capabilities include calculating crest factors for voltage and current, transformer K-factors, flicker indices, and three-phase voltage unbalance. It assesses harmonics up to the 50th order, displaying harmonic sequencing, directionality, and overall harmonic content. Real-time phasor diagrams display phase angles and values, while power measurements include active, reactive, and apparent power per phase and in total. It computes power factor, displacement power factor, and tangent factor.
The analyzer characterizes power disturbances such as sags, swells, interruptions, and threshold exceedances, with timestamped recordings. It features a 2GB internal memory for trend data, with separate memory for alarms, snapshots, and transient/inrush events. Energy measurements include kWh, kvarh, and kVAh. Max and min RMS values are calculated every half-cycle. The device includes DataView® software for configuration, real-time display, data analysis, and report generation.
