The 3720 is a versatile multiplexer card featuring two independent banks of 1 x 30 two-pole multiplexers. It is suitable for general-purpose switching applications, including temperature measurements. The card can automatically connect to the Series 3700A mainframe backplane and an optional DMM via analogue backplane connection relays, enabling configuration as a single 1 x 60 two-pole multiplexer or expanded into larger configurations through card-to-card expansion. Additionally, it can be reconfigured for coordinated four-pole operation for enhanced measurement flexibility. When used with the Model 3720-ST accessory, which provides screw terminal connections and automatic cold junction compensation (CJC) for thermocouple temperature measurements, the device supports thermocouple inputs. The relay closures are stored in onboard memory and utilize latching electromechanical relays. It handles switched voltages up to 300V and currents up to 1A, with a carry signal capacity of 2A (60W, 125VA). The device features two 78-pin male D-sub connectors for signal connections.
