The MAX1726EUK33+T is an ultra low supply current, low dropout (LDO) linear regulator in 5 pin SOT-23 package. This regulator is intended for low power applications that demand the longest possible battery life. Unlike inferior PNP based designs, the PMOS pass elements of MAX1726 maintain an ultra low 2μA supply current throughout their entire operating range and in dropout. Along with ultra low power consumption, the MAX1726 has tight output accuracy (1.5%) and require just 1μF output capacitance to achieve good load transient response. This regulator has wide input voltage range from 2.5V to 12V which makes it excellent choices for systems powered from two lithium-ion (Li+) cells and 9V batteries. It also includes reverse battery protection, short circuit protection and thermal protection. The MAX1726 is used in smoke detectors, remote transmitters, smart battery packs, microcontroller power, real time clock backup power and battery powered alarms.
