It supports high-speed, half-duplex differential communication in accordance with standards such as TIA/EIA-422-B, TIA/EIA-485-A, V.11, and X.27. The transceiver provides a minimum output voltage of 2.1V at a 54-ohm load and achieves data rates up to 40 Mbps. It features one three-state differential line driver and one differential input receiver, operating reliably from a 4.75V to 5.25V power supply. Its true fail-safe circuitry ensures that the receiver outputs a logic high when inputs are open or shorted, facilitating all receiver outputs to remain high when transmitters are disabled on a terminated bus. The receiver input impedance is 1/4 standard unit load, allowing up to 128 transceivers on the bus.
