The ARD00385 is a single-phase anti-tamper energy meter based on the MCP3911 and PIC18F85K90 microcontroller. It features full functionality with enhanced capabilities, including battery backup, real-time clock (RTC), and anti-tampering measures. The device measures two current channels using the MCP3911 and a voltage channel via the microcontroller's 12-bit SAR ADC. It utilizes two sensors for current measurement—a current transformer and a shunt resistor. The microcontroller directly drives an LCD and communicates with an MCP2200 via UART, providing an isolated USB connection for calibration and access to power calculations. The system calculates active and reactive energy, active, reactive, and apparent power, power factor, RMS current, RMS voltage, and line frequency. Calibration and monitoring are performed using Microchip's Energy Meter Software. Rated for 5(60)A at 220V, with a measurement resolution of 3200 impulses per kWh, and complies with IEC 62053-22 Class 0.5 standards. Additional features include anti-tamper monitoring, a low-cost capacitive power supply design, and calibration options in open or closed loop. Suitable applications include metering, power management, automotive, sensing and instrumentation, and medical fields. The package includes the microcontroller-based energy meter and a mini USB cable.
