The MAX1488EESD+ is a ±15KV ESD-protected, quad low-power RS-232 line driver in a 14-pin NSOIC package. Designed for harsh environments, it supports EIA/TIA-232, EIA/TIA-562, and CCITT V.28 communication standards. Each transmitter output is protected against ±15kV electrostatic discharge (ESD) shocks. The inputs are TTL and CMOS compatible with minimal loading, and the outputs feature internally controlled slew-rate and current limiting. The device guarantees a data rate of 120 Kbps, with a supply current of less than 180µA across a voltage range of ±4.5V to ±13.2V. It is suitable for use in PC motherboards, modems, and data terminal equipment (DTE) connecting to data circuit-terminating equipment (DCE). The device is latchup-free even during ESD events, operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, and does not require external capacitors for slew-rate limiting. It is pin-compatible with MC1488, MC14C88, SN75188, SN75C188, DS1488, and DS14C88. The maximum output slew rate is 30V/µs.
