The MAX3222ECAP+ is a ±15KV ESD protected, true RS232 transceiver housed in a 20-pin SSOP package. The device protects all transmitter outputs and receiver inputs against ESD events up to ±15KV (IEC 1000-4-2 air-gap discharge), ±8KV (contact discharge), and human body model standards. It includes a low dropout transmitter output stage that delivers true RS232 performance using an internal dual charge pump powered by only four 0.1μF capacitors, suitable for operation from 3.3V. The MAX3222E offers two transceivers and two receivers and supports a maximum data rate of 250 Kbps with a transition slew rate of 30V/μs (for load capacitances from 150pF to 1000pF). It also features a 1μA shutdown mode that reduces power consumption, while the receivers remain active to monitor external devices with minimal current.
