The FOD3182 is a high-speed, 3A output current optocoupler featuring an aluminium gallium arsenide (AlGaAs) LED optically coupled to a CMOS detector with integrated PMOS and NMOS output transistors. It is designed for efficient and reliable high-frequency driving of power MOSFETs in applications such as plasma display panels, motor control inverters, and high-performance DC-DC converters. The device is packaged in an 8-pin dual in-line format compatible with lead-free reflow soldering at 260°C. It offers high noise immunity, with typical common-mode rejection of 50kV/µs, and enables rail-to-rail output using P-Channel MOSFETs. Features include undervoltage lockout with hysteresis, fast switching speeds with a maximum propagation delay of 210ns, and a maximum switching frequency of 250kHz. Operating voltage range is from 10V to 30V. The device provides excellent isolation with 5000Vrms for one minute, minimum creepage and clearance distances of 8mm and 10-16mm respectively, and a minimal insulation thickness of 0.5mm.
