The MAX1484EUB+ is a full duplex, high-speed RS485/RS422 transceiver housed in a 10-pin µMAX package. It is functionally similar to the industry-standard MAX491 and 75180, designed for space-constrained, full duplex RS422 applications. The device features a driver slew rate capable of supporting data transmission speeds up to 12 Mbps, with output short circuit current limiting and thermal shutdown protection to prevent excessive power dissipation. The receiver includes a fail-safe feature that outputs a logic-high signal when the input is open. Operating within a supply voltage range of 4.75V to 5.25V, it supports temperatures from -40°C to 85°C. The transceiver comprises one driver and one receiver, with a 1/8 unit load input impedance, and includes enable functions for both receiver and driver. It allows for up to 256 transceivers on a bus, making it suitable for applications in industrial control, portable devices, level translation, and EMI-sensitive environments.
