The 74VHC74M is a dual D-type flip-flop with preset and clear functions, built using silicon gate CMOS technology. It offers high-speed operation comparable to bipolar Schottky TTL devices while maintaining low power dissipation inherent to CMOS devices. The flip-flops transfer the input signal to the output on the positive edge of the clock pulse. The preset (PR) and clear (CLR) inputs are independent of the clock and can be activated by setting their respective inputs low. An input protection circuit allows voltages from 0V to 7V to be applied to the input pins without regard to the supply voltage, enabling easy interfacing with different system voltages such as 5V to 3V or dual-supply systems like battery backup. Power-down protection is included on all inputs. The device is pin and function compatible with the 74HC74, features high noise immunity, and has a maximum low power dissipation of 2 μA at 25°C. It is suitable for industrial applications.
