The MAX1485CUB+ is a versatile RS-485/RS-422 transceiver in a 10-pin µMAX package, capable of being configured as either half-duplex or full-duplex via software or hardware jumpers. It features a slew rate-limited driver to minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI) and signal reflections, enabling error-free data transmission at speeds up to 250 kbps. The driver includes short-circuit current limiting and thermal shutdown protection, while the receiver offers a fail-safe high output when the input is open. Operating within a voltage range of 4.75V to 5.25V and a temperature range from 0°C to 70°C, it contains one driver and one receiver with a 1/8 unit load impedance, a driver enable function, and supports up to 256 transceivers on the bus. The quiescent current is approximately 300µA. Ideal applications include communications, networking, and portable devices.
