The MAX489EPD+ is a low power, slew rate limited RS-485/RS-422 transceiver housed in a 14-pin NSOIC package. It includes one driver and one receiver, with a driver designed to minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI) and signal reflections caused by improperly terminated cables. This allows error-free data transmission at speeds up to 250 Kbps. The transceiver features short circuit current limiting, thermal shutdown protection, and fail-safe circuitry that ensures a high-level output when the receiver input is open. Operating over a supply voltage range of 4.75V to 5.25V and an extended temperature range from -40°C to 85°C, it is suitable for full duplex communication, industrial networks, and low-power applications.
