The MAX7313AEG+ is a 16-port I/O expander with LED intensity control, interrupt capability, and hot-insertion protection, housed in a 24-pin QSOP package. It communicates via an I2C interface and provides microprocessors with 16 configurable I/O ports. Each port can be individually set as an open-drain current sinking output (up to 50mA at 5.5V) or as a logic input with transition detection. An additional 17th port offers transition detection interrupt or can serve as a general-purpose output. The outputs support driving LEDs or logic signals with external pull-up resistors up to 5.5V. PWM current control with 8-bit resolution enables precise LED brightness adjustment, featuring global 4-bit control for coarse current adjustment and individual 4-bit control for fine-tuning, with the option of a single 8-bit setting for all outputs. The device operates at supply voltages from 2V to 3.6V, with an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. It is pin- and software-compatible with MAX7311, PCA9535, and PCA9555. The serial interface supports data transfer speeds up to 400Kbps. Each output has independent blink timing with two blink phases.
