The ICM7224IPL+ is a 4.5-digit LCD high-speed counter, decoder, and driver integrated circuit in a 40-pin DIP package. It features segment decoders, leading zero blanking, store and reset inputs, and a carry output for cascading multiple digits. The device directly drives a non-multiplexed LCD and operates with input frequencies up to 25 MHz while consuming only 10µA of current. A Schmitt trigger on the count input ensures reliable operation in noisy environments and with slowly varying signals. Typical applications include unit counters, frequency counters, tachometers, hour meters, and totalizers. It supports a supply voltage from 3V to 6V, operates in temperatures from -20°C to 85°C, and includes an onboard oscillator for backplane frequency generation. The CMOS design offers low power consumption with an oscillator input current of ±2µA. The segment transition time is approximately 0.5µs at a 200pF load, and the backplane transition time is about 1.5µs at a 5000pF load. The oscillator frequency is 19kHz (with pin 36 floating), and the backplane frequency is 150Hz (also with pin 36 floating). Applications encompass signal processing and various measurement systems.
