The device features hot-swap capability to prevent false bus transitions during power-up or hot insertion. It employs reduced slew rate drivers to minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI) and reflections, enabling error-free data transmission up to 250 kbps. The receiver has a 1/8 unit load input impedance, supporting up to 256 transceivers on the bus. Operating over a voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V and a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, it includes one driver and one receiver for full duplex communication, with true fail-safe functionality compatible with EIA/TIA-485 standards. Additional features include hot-swap input structures on DE and RE pins and low-current shutdown mode.
